Member Categories & DUES

Company Member

Company Membership is the correct choice for company applicant that is:
- Created under the laws of the United States or any State, district or territory within the United States; and
- Doing or transacting business on a regular basis within the United States.
When you select this category, you must provide the following in conjunction with the application:
- Proof of organization or incorporation under the laws of the United States, or any State, district or territory within the United States;
- Either a unique identifying number, such as an EIN, or explanation why such information is not available; and
- Certification (with supporting documentation upon request) that: Applicant agrees and certifies that Applicant is regularly doing or transacting business within the United States.

Organizational Member

Organizational Member is the correct choice for any not-for-profit entity applicant that is:
- Created and existing under the laws of the United States or any State, district or territory within the United States; and
- Substantially engaged in standards development, conformity assessment or related activities.
When you select this category, you must provide the following in conjunction with the application:
- Proof of organization or incorporation under the laws of the United States, or any State, district or territory within the United States; and
- Certification (with supporting documentation upon request) that: Applicant agrees and certifies that Applicant is a not-for-profit scientific, technical, professional, labor, consumer, trade, or other association or organization that is involved in standards, conformity assessment or related activities.

Government Member

Government Membership is the correct choice for any department, authority or agency of the United States government, or of any State, interstate, regional, or local government body within the United States which is interested in voluntary standards, conformity assessment or related activities.
When you select this category, you must provide the following in conjunction with the application:
- Proof of organization or incorporation under the laws of the United States, or any State, district or territory within the United States; and
- Certification (with supporting documentation upon request) that: Applicant agrees and certifies that Applicant is a not-for-profit scientific, technical, professional, labor, consumer, trade, or other association or organization that is involved in standards, conformity assessment or related activities.

Educational Member

Educational Membership is the correct choice for any for-profit or not-for-profit entity applicant that is:
- Created and existing under the laws of the United States or any State, district or territory within the U.S.;
- Operating and accredited as an educational institution; and
- Interested in voluntary standards, conformity assessment or related activities.
When you select this category, you must provide the following in conjunction with the application:
- Proof of organization or incorporation under the laws of the United States, or any State, district or territory within the United States;
- Accreditation information, from an accreditor recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or an explanation as to why such accreditation is not available; and
- Certification (with supporting documentation upon request) that: Applicant agrees and certifies that Applicant is an institution or organization dedicated to providing educational services to students at any level and that such education has been accredited or certified by the U.S. government or an independent expert third party.

International Member

International Member is the only choice for any for-profit, not-for-profit, educational, or organizational entity applicant that does not meet the domestic-contacts requirements for Membership. International membership is not available for foreign government representatives or for unaffiliated foreign individuals.
- Note: International Members cannot vote and may not join task groups.
- International Member applicants must also:
  - Provide two business references; and
  - Certify that the entity will avoid use of all ANSI logos and icons, including the ANSI Member icon, as such use is not permitted under this category
